FAQs – Owners / Operators
Who is AMSTAT?
Established in 1982, AMSTAT performs business aircraft market research and provides
that researched information to aircraft industry professionals. AMSTAT focuses on
the worldwide fleet of corporate, business and private aircraft, including jets,
turbo-props, and turbine helicopters. The information compiled by AMSTAT includes
aircraft for sale status, the name of the aircraft owner/operator (including fractional
owners and operators), executive and aviation personnel and contact information,
and aircraft specification details. AMSTAT is a wholly owned subsidiary of CAMP Systems International.
Why is AMSTAT calling me?
AMSTAT’s researchers periodically call the owners/operators of business/executive
aircraft to verify and make updates to our information. If you prefer a certain
method of contact (for example, email instead of phone), we are happy to comply
– just tell us. When an aircraft is for sale by the owner, and the owner is not
using an aircraft Broker, AMSTAT’s researchers contact the owner every 30 days to
confirm that the aircraft is still for sale.
Does AMSTAT buy or sell aircraft?
AMSTAT does not buy, sell, or broker aircraft, nor do we accept any finder's fees
or commissions. This practice enables us to remain absolutely objective in our only
business, which is the gathering and reporting of business aircraft market information.
Is AMSTAT trying to sell me something or charge me for inclusion of my information?
No. AMSTAT does not sell any services to aircraft owners/operators. We are simply
calling you to request that you help us to verify the accuracy of our information.
There is never a charge for including information pertaining to your aircraft in
the AMSTAT database.
Why do I want to share information with AMSTAT?
Most owners/operators of business aircraft find it beneficial to have accurate information
regarding their aircraft in the AMSTAT database. This benefit is particularly valuable
when an owner/operator has an aircraft that is for sale, but there are benefits
at other times as well. However, if you wish to have any piece of contact information
removed from our database, we are happy to comply with your wishes, as long as that
information is not otherwise available from a source of public information. In summary,
because it is generally beneficial to have accurate information regarding your aircraft
in the AMSTAT database, the vast majority of aircraft owners choose to share information
openly with AMSTAT. However, you are under no obligation to do so.
Who has access to my information once AMSTAT has it?
AMSTAT's customers are aircraft professionals, whose primary business is selling,
buying, leasing and/or financing business aircraft, as well as providers of related
services and equipment.
Can I subscribe to AMSTAT’s services?
AMSTAT does not sell any services to aircraft owners/operators.
When I eventually sell my aircraft, why do I want to choose a broker who uses AMSTAT?
We at AMSTAT believe that the best way to buy or sell a business aircraft is to
utilize the services of a professional. Your choice of aircraft broker, dealer or
consultant is as important as your choice of lawyer or stockbroker. Before you enlist
their services, we urge you to ask questions regarding the firm's experience, get
references, and most importantly, ask if they are an AMSTAT subscriber. Those aircraft
brokers who use AMSTAT have indicated their responsibility to you by keeping themselves
apprised of current corporate aircraft market conditions.
