Who is AMSTAT?
Established in 1982, AMSTAT performs business aircraft market research and provides
that researched information to aircraft industry professionals as a subscription
service. AMSTAT focuses on the worldwide fleet of corporate, business and private
aircraft, including jets, turbo-props, and turbine helicopters. The information
compiled by AMSTAT includes aircraft for sale status, aircraft transaction and financing
details, comprehensive business aircraft owner/operator contact information (including
owners, operators, aircraft management companies, charter certificate holders, and
brokers), aircraft specification details, and in-depth coverage of the business
aircraft fractional market. AMSTAT is a wholly owned subsidiary of CAMP Systems International.
How does AMSTAT gather its information?
AMSTAT’s primary goal is to provide the most accurate and complete picture possible
of the business aircraft market to our subscribers. AMSTAT researchers call the
owners and operators of business aircraft worldwide on a recurring schedule to gather
and verify information. We contact brokers and dealers on a weekly basis to update
information regarding their inventory and aircraft for sale status. We monitor over
one hundred sources of registry information and other public sources of aircraft
information on a continuous basis. Additionally, we examine all aircraft advertised
as for sale on major public marketplaces (aircraft for sale websites, listing magazines,
etc.).
Why is AMSTAT calling me?
AMSTAT researchers contact most active brokers and dealers on a weekly basis to
update information regarding the broker’s inventory and aircraft for sale status.
This is generally achieved through one phone call and three emails per month. However,
if you prefer a certain method of contact, we are happy to comply – just tell us.
Additionally, we encourage you to proactively contact AMSTAT when information regarding
your aircraft inventory changes. This is the best way to ensure that AMSTAT subscribers
have access to the most up to date information on your aircraft. The researcher
responsible for your company will provide you with his or her phone number and email
address for this purpose.
Does AMSTAT buy or sell aircraft?
AMSTAT does not buy, sell, or broker aircraft, nor do we accept any finder's fees
or commissions. This practice enables us to remain absolutely objective in our only
business, which is the gathering and reporting of business aircraft market information.
Why do you verify broker exclusives?
AMSTAT verifies all exclusives either directly with the registered owner or via a copy
of the exclusive agreement (used for confirmation only and treated as confidential information).
We do this to ensure the accuracy of our information and to ensure aircraft are represented by
a broker authorized by the owner. This protects you when you are that broker.
Is AMSTAT trying to sell me something?
AMSTAT researchers will NOT attempt to sell you the AMSTAT service. AMSTAT researchers
contact you for the sole purpose of verifying and updating our information. If you
are not already an AMSTAT subscriber, you may receive an occasional, separate call
or email from the AMSTAT Sales department inquiring about your needs for researched
market information. Although we believe that most industry professionals find AMSTAT
services to be extremely valuable, providing information to our research team does
not come with any obligation to subscribe to our services.
Why do I want to share information with AMSTAT?
AMSTAT’s information is used by thousands of industry professionals around the world.
In particular, AMSTAT is the source of market information that is most widely used
by the brokers and dealers of business aircraft. If you want the people who buy
and sell business aircraft on a daily basis to see your aircraft inventory, ensuring
that AMSTAT has the most updated information on your aircraft is the single most
effective thing you can do.
Who has access to my information once AMSTAT has it?
AMSTAT's customers are aircraft professionals, whose primary business is selling,
buying, leasing and/or financing business aircraft, as well as providers of related
services and equipment. The majority of the most influential brokers and dealers
in the industry subscribe to AMSTAT.
To what degree do I control the information provided by AMSTAT regarding my aircraft?
In the vast majority of cases, AMSTAT will include information on your aircraft
exactly as you provide it to AMSTAT. However, AMSTAT has a duty to its subscribers
to provide the most accurate market information possible, and thus AMSTAT makes
the final determination as to what we believe is accurate information. To this end,
there are rare cases in which information is provided to AMSTAT by a particular
source that we choose to omit, or even contradict, in the information that we provide
to our subscribers.
Can I request that AMSTAT not include one of my aircraft in its list of aircraft
for sale?
AMSTAT has a duty to its subscribers to provide the most accurate market information
possible. If an aircraft is advertised as for sale on a reliable internet for sale
marketplace website, we will show the status of that aircraft as either “For Sale”
or “For Sale – Unverified”, even if that information is contradicted by the owner
or broker of the aircraft. We simply cannot make exceptions to this rule and at
the same time claim to our subscribers that we provide the most accurate information
possible.
What does it mean when the status of my aircraft is shown as “For Sale – Unverified”
in AMSTAT?
In order to show the status of an aircraft as “For Sale”, AMSTAT must verify that
status with the owner of the aircraft. If we learn that an aircraft is for sale,
but we cannot immediately verify that status with the owner, AMSTAT will show the
status of the aircraft as “For Sale - Unverified”. As soon as the status is verified
with the owner, we will update the status to “For Sale”. The only acceptable alternative
to receiving verification of for sale status directly from the owner is to receive
from the aircraft broker a copy of the aircraft brokerage agreement between the
owner and broker (confidential details can be redacted, and AMSTAT will sign a non-disclosure
agreement stating that it will only use such agreements for the purpose of verifying
aircraft for sale status).
